Can my non-business organization play?
Absolutely. As long as you are an established organization in the CNY area, you can represent yourselves at the Battle of the Businesses! This includes schools, non-profits, athletic clubs, Loyal Orders of the ____, etc.
My business/orgnaization doesn't have enough people who want to do this - can I invite others?
YES! Your company or organization can invite anyone you want to represent you (up t 8 people/team). If you know Ken Jennings, you can invite him, too! Teams of less than 8 are also allowed.
How does it work?
Businesses and organizations from around CNY will be gathering in one big room (The SRC Arena) for two hours of a live trivia game show to win prizes and have fun outside of the workplace. Questions will be read over a PA system and players will work together as a team at their table to answer them. The questions will be on many topics to appeal to all ages and walks of life. You do not have to be good at trivia to know the answers and have fun! No phones/tablets or other "smart" technology will be allowed during game play and there will be many proctors enforcing that rule.
What time do I have to show up?
Check in begins at 3pm make sure you are there in time to check in and get settled down for the game which starts at 4pm.
What kind of attire should I wear?
This event will be casual/business casual -whichever you prefer. It's a fun event that gets people together on a Saturday, outside of your work environment. You may feel overdressed with a tie on, or heels.
Where can I park?
The parking lot right outside the SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College will have plenty of spots.
Will there be food and beverage available?
Yes, there will be food and beverage from the SRC Arena's vendors. Outside food and drink is not allowed.
Do we need to have a team name?
Your business or organization will be your team name! If your business or organization has more than one team registered, a “sub” team name such as “Part Deux” can be added to distinguish among them.
Is this event tax deductible for my company?
This event is being hosted and run by Syracuse Trivia, a private company. A portion of all sales will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Syracuse which is a 501(c)3 organization. Talk to your accountant to determine if your contribution is eligible for any tax deduction.
What are the prizes?
There will be 3 Grand Prizes; a wine tour in a Hummer Limo courtesy of Jammin' Beats, a lunch catered by Dinosaur BBQ for up to 20 people, and $400 in gift cards to Syracuse Trivia affiliated venues! We'll also be raffling lots of great prizes too!
How is the game won?
The team with the most amount of points at the end of the game wins first pick of the grand prizes. The game consists of three rounds of 11 questions each. Round 1 is one point questions, round 2 is two point questions, round 3 is three point questions, and then a final question which wagers can be placed on is asked. To get a good feel for how the game is played, visit one of our weekly events on Tuesday (that is the precise format we'll use) or any of the other days for a similar feel (slightly different format).
Will there be an ATM there?
Yes, there will be.
Will there be other prizes in the off chance we don't place in the top 3?
Absolutely! We will have lots of raffle prizes from local businesses drawn at the end of the event. Every team gets 8 raffle tickets just by signing up (one for each member) and people will have the opportunity to buy extra tickets during the event.
